Artist Statement
Kat Honey’s collages remix contemporary fashion imagery to excavate, interpolate and fabricate layers of meaning and expression. By subverting the flawlessness of unattainable ideals, can more of our complexity, humanity and true beauty be revealed? How do we present ourselves to the world? How do outside pressures alter our self-expression? What feels safe? Dangerous? Beautiful? What complex layers lie below our shiny surfaces — kept hidden — or exposed by chance or circumstance?
These works are created by hand at magazine scale, then digitally enhanced and greatly enlarged, magnifying the qualities of printing dots, paper textures, tears and cuts.

When she’s not in the studio or teaching, Kat can often be found in her gym or out riding one of her beloved bicycles…
