Contemplation: Carbon 420.57
$800.00
Part of the Carbon Dating series, my way of bearing witness to climate change, while still appreciating the beauty and joy of the natural world.
This work shows an abstracted deep forest created with gelli printed tissue paper. A figure in the foreground is visible in outline, suggesting the title word “Contemplation”. Collaged lettering created with linocut printing on tissue paper shows the NOAA Global Carbon Dioxide (seasonally adjusted) number for June of 2023, 420.57 parts per million. The dreamlike colours contrast with the number and the figure, who bears witness to the changes in the environment.
