Starting with just two colors, black and tan, and using sgraffito marks, this piece was built up in layers including collage elements made from ephemera, artists’ painted papers, and acrylic skins. Paint layers were added, marked into, and sanded off to achieve the final effect.

Driving around Haliburton in spring, I stopped to look at trilliums and the woods coming to life. A richly textured and layered piece that includes collage elements from papers painted by the artist.
