Artist Statement & Bio
Creating a piece of art evokes a sense of spirituality in Parin and gives her immense pleasure. Whenever she applies paint strokes to the canvas, it does not matter how good or bad it turns out to be, it is still a reflection of Parin, and the mood she is in. If the end result does not satisfy her, so be it. She’ll try again.
Parin Meghani was born and raised in Tanzania, East Africa. However, she had to leave Tanzania because of the political situation and lived in Kuwait for a couple of years before emigrating to Canada.
Back in Tanzania, Parin’s art skills amounted to doodling and drawing apples and pears and houses. It was not until Parin settled in Canada that she started taking art seriously and got hooked. Now she is always looking at the open sky and its colours and contours at different times of the day and seasons. Parin has attended classes and workshops by renowned artists such as Neil Patterson, Mike Svob, John Poone, Rick Berg, Ingrid Christensen and more. But formal training is not everything. It has to be internal – I mean an artistic inclination – to truly enjoy it and succeed.
Parin is grateful that her work has found its way into corporate offices and private homes. She also donates artworks to charities and other worthwhile causes. Parin is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Calgary Sketch Club and the Leighton Art Centre.
