Artist Statement
When Lanni Weingarten sits among the artwork in her home, she feels as though she is being greeted by old friends. For her, there is a deep sense of comfort and balance when her art is in its place on the walls. She invites viewers to see her paintings similarly, as trusted companions that offer warmth, softness, and joy.
Lanni draws inspiration from the beauty she encounters in her natural surroundings. She creates depth in her pieces by layering a variety of materials including acrylics, inks, pastels, pens, pencils, resin, and encaustic wax. This experimentation brings a whimsical quality to her work. She often incorporates subtle messages, affirmations, and pleasantries as gentle reminders of what truly matters in life. Her paintings are best explored meditatively, like a meander through a garden. As viewers uncover the layers of her work, Lanni hopes they find parts of themselves that were previously hidden.
Artist Bio
Lanni Weingarten is a mixed-media artist, yogi, and dog lover based in Vancouver, Canada. Inspired by nature and her deep connection to yoga, Lanni’s work offers a whimsical response to the everyday beauty she observes around her. The movement within her paintings mirrors the fluidity and mindfulness she experiences on the mat. Her art invites viewers to slow down, take a breath, and linger, offering a moment of pause and reflection. She enjoys experimenting with colour, texture, and a range of materials to create layered, feel-good pieces that radiate joy and depth.
Lanni’s recent exhibitions include The Artist Project in Toronto (2023, 2024) and the Eastside Culture Crawl in Vancouver (2023 and 2024). She also contributed to Arts Umbrella’s Splash fundraiser in 2022 and 2023, events that helped raise nearly $2 million each year for youth arts programming across British Columbia. Other exhibitions include The Gallery George (2021), The Richmond Art Gallery (2020), Artists in Our Midst (2022, 2023), and Circle Craft (2022).
