David Dawson’s paintings aren’t of a place, rather they are simply inspired by a place. Through light and colour, David likes to explore the structure of nature, sometimes in oils but mostly in gouache, a water based pigment. A great painting represents the law of increasing returns, and over time it becomes a cherished member of the family.
David Dawson was born in Hamilton, ON. and raised in Ancaster and Cambridge. He is an honours graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design and an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists. David began painting at the age of ten, graduated in design from OCAD, and headed up the interior design department for five years at Parkin/Norr Architects in Toronto. He then freelanced as an architectural renderer for a number of years, working on projects such as the Toronto Skydome, the Calgary Saddledome, the Chrysler Building in NYC, and numerous other global projects. He now paints full time from his studio in Gravenhurst, ON.
