Artist Statement
Alyson Davies explores the human connection with nature through paintings which consider personal histories and the domestic experience. They are often autobiographical in nature, memorializing small experiences that offer moments of contemplation and stillness. Bold colours, flattened spaces, patterning, and exaggerated proportions create worlds slightly offset from reality. The acts of growing and tending to gardens, where narrative moments are anchored by seasonality and other natural cycles, directly influence Alyson’s work
