Artist Bio
Bulgarian-born, Alexander Ahilov is inspired by the beauty of everyday life, but his art often reflects his determination, since early in his creative life, to conceptualize the Bulgarian traditional icon in abstract, contemporary images.
Alexander Ahilov graduated in 1991 with a Master’s in Drawing and Painting from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria. He then lived in London from 1991 to 1997. This was the most intense time of his artistic development. Alexander had shows at several galleries in England while continuing his education with the study of digital art techniques.
Having moved to Toronto in 1997, Alexander Ahilov continues to work and develop his art vision. He has had several solo shows and has exhibited in juried / group shows, along with art festivals. Alexander’s paintings are in the Bulgarian National Art Museum and private collections in Germany, Italy, England, Japan, Canada and United States.
