Artist Bio
Alberta-born Cindy Bouwers is an artist and designer. After obtaining her BFA in Visual Communication design and a career as a graphic designer, she began exploring a long-buried desire to create her own artwork. This creative path has resulted in a rich body of work informed by her design background.
Inspiration for Cindy Bouwer’s paintings comes from moments of quiet reflection, in watching the play of light and translating the shapes and patterns created in its path. She creates her acrylic and oil paintings using an emotive and visceral combination of line, shape, and texture, and aims to bring the viewer into a shared experience, inspired by a moment of contentment, a recognition of beauty, or a sense of hope.
Cindy Bouwers currently works out of her downtown Calgary studio and is an active member of the Calgary Artist’s Society and the Riverview Artists Group.
